The challenge for students preparing to study abroad
Students applying to UG courses in the US, the UK and Canada will have to adapt to this change keeping in mind the following facts.
For US applicants, early action and early decision (early-November) as well as regular applications (deadline: 1 st Jan) were earlier uncomplicated in terms of application essays. Now students will need to also juggle board exams instead of the breather they would get earlier after the board exams.
Further, colleges might expect scores (and not just predicted scores like earlier when September midterm results would go along with predicted scores) to be submitted If scores come out by the time registrations start in January-February.
For UK and Canada as well, 15th January is the deadline for applications so students will need to ensure that their essays are ready by then.
With these changes in mind, students will have to start preparing for writing essays early on, preferrably from March-April. Essay ideation and finalization of college lists are time-consuming processes. Given the changing nature of board exams and the increased importance of performing well on board exams, UG applicants to the US, UK, and Canada need to become more proactive and manage their timelines with care.
