DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has issued fresh instructions after a ruckus on the beard of a Sub Inspector in bagpat. He has said that no policeman except Sikhism policemen is allowed to shave his hair without permission.
In fact, the DGP has issued this circular in Baghpat after a dispute over a sub-inspector refusing to shave his beard. Arguments were being made about this on social media.
The DGP has stated in the circular that on religious grounds, the permission to keep a beard and long hair for a temporary period may be given by the head of the office. There will be no permission for stylish beard hair. Police personnel can keep their mustache at will. But mustaches must be trimmed and have good maintenance. He instructed the officers to do Tokataki with the wrong uniform and beard-hair so that discipline should be maintained.

No other shoe, sandal or sandals etc. shall be worn except for the pattern shoe of the uniform. Police officers and employees will wear the prescribed uniform at their office and duty site. The misconception of wearing the wrong uniform, hat, name plate, shirt buttons open and not wearing the prescribed shoes and stockings should be completely eliminated.
