The Department of Telecommunications has allowed 5G technology and spectrum trials. The Ministry of Communications said on Tuesday that the telecom service providers will start 5G trials at different places in India. The ministry said that the telecom companies will start these trials in rural, semi-urban and urban areas.
The companies that started the trial of 5G technology and spectrum include Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and MTNL. These companies have joined hands with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers (Nokia, Ericsson, Samsung and C Dot).
It is noteworthy that Reliance Jio will also use its own developed technology in the 5G trial. Explain that currently the trial period is six months. For this 5G trial, the time period of two months to purchase and install the equipment is also included in the same period.
Earlier, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone had proposed to test using the technology of Huawei company of China. Later, however, he said in his application that he would not use the technology of any Chinese company in the 5G test.
The department said, "These telecom service providers have tied up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers such as Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-Dot. While Reliance JioinfoCom Limited will conduct this test using its own 5G technology. '
This move by the Department of Telecommunications indicates that the central government can prevent Chinese companies from participating in the 5G trials in the country.
The statement said that telecom companies have been allowed to use the experimental spectrum in different bands. This includes mid-band 3.2 GHz to 3.67 GHz, millimeter wave bands 24.25 GHz to 28.5 GHz, and sub-GHz bands to 700 GHz.
The department said, 'Telecom operators will also be allowed to use their existing 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2500 MHz spectrum to conduct 5G trials. The duration of the tests is currently six months. This includes a period of 2 months for the purchase and installation of the equipment. '
