Famous Tiktok star Siya Kakkar (17) committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Delhi's Geeta Colony. Siya's suicide was reported to the police on Wednesday night. The reason for the suicide has not been revealed. How popular Sia was on social media can be gauged from the fact that she has 11 lakh followers on TikTok and over one lakh followers on Instagram.
Family sources say that Siya has been receiving threats on social media for the past few days. District Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Sharma says that Sia's body has been handed over to the family after conducting a post-mortem. The matter is being investigated. According to police, Geeta Colony lived in 13 blocks with the Sia Kakkar family. The family consists of father Inder Kakkar, mother, a brother and sister. Siya was graduating from a college in DU.
Siya had been making dance videos for the past several years. Apart from Tiktok, she shared these videos on Instagram and YouTube. In the last few years, she had become a big star thanks to Tiktok
Those close to Sia's family say her grandfather Vijay is a dentist in Kakkar area. Most people in the area know Sia's grandfather. She started making TikTok many years ago and became a star on seeing it. When Covid-19 was locked down, he started making and posting videos of Tiktok at his home.
