The court has upheld the government's decision to increase the cutoff marks. The court has ordered the recruitment process to be completed within six months. Let me tell you that the recruitment process was stuck for about one and a half years.
The court had secured the verdict after completing the hearing on March 3, on a special appeal from other candidates, including the state government. In these, the decision and order of the single judge was challenged, in which the instructions to the government to keep the minimum qualifying marks in the recruitment test for 45 for general class and 40 per cent for reserved category.
Immediately after the recruitment examination held at the beginning of last year, the state government had fixed qualification marks of 65 per cent for general category and 60 per cent for reserved category, against which several petitions were filed in single bench. The final hearing on these appeals was going on since last year.
Let us tell you that the online application process was started on 5 December 2018 for the recruitment of 69 thousand assistant teachers in primary schools of the state. The exam was conducted on 6 January 2019 to recruit 69 thousand teachers. Of these, 4,10,440 candidates had appeared and 21 thousand 26 candidates had left the examination.
