The name of this fort is Bhatner Fort, which is located in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. This fort was built by Raja Bhupat Singh of Bhati dynasty around 1735 years ago i.e. in 285 AD, hence the name 'Bhatner Fort'. This fort is also known as 'Hanumangarh', because in the year 1805 Raja Surat Singh of Bikaner won this fort from the Bhatis. That day was Tuesday and since Tuesday is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, it was named Hanumangarh.
Constructed of paved bricks and lime, this fort was considered to be the strongest fort in ancient times. The ruler of the Timuri dynasty, Timurlang, in his biography 'Tujuk-e-Taimuri', described it as the strongest fort in India. He has written that he has never seen a strong fort like Bhatner in his life.
This fort has ruled from Akbar to Prithviraj Chauhan. On the other hand, if we talk about foreign invaders, then in 1001 AD, Mahmud Ghaznavi captured it. Apart from this, Sher Khan, a cousin of Balban, the ruler of the Ghulam dynasty, also ruled here in the 13th century. Sher Khan's tomb is also in this fort. At the same time in 1398, this fort became under Timurlang.
There are many temples inside this fort ranging from Hanuman temple to Lord Shiva. Apart from this, there is also a tomb of Sher Shah Suri in this fort with 52 bastions. It is said that an underground tunnel was also built in this fort, which went from Bhatner to the forts of Bhatinda and Sirsa.
